Pelican Girls Reenactment + Historic Marker Unveiling
December 07, 2025
3:30pm - 5:00pm

Join us on December 7th to welcome the Pelican Girls to Mobile! Colonial Fort Condé invites you to a reenactment of the landing of the Pelican, the ship that brought the first women from France to the capital of the French Louisiana territory, Mobile, in 1704. The reenactment will start at 3:30 and will showcase the women landing and greeting the colonists, narrated by the first midwife of Mobile, Marie Grissot. Visitors will be able to interact with historical figures such as Bienville and Henri de Tonti.
Following the reenactment, at 4:30, guests are invited to join the Pelican Girls and The Mobile Historic Development Commission in Mardi Gras Park, where they will unveil a historic marker honoring the Pelican Girls.
We hope you will join us and experience this rich piece of Mobile's history!
