Special Event Rentals

Make your special event extraordinary by hosting it in one of the remarkable spaces in the History Museum of Mobile, which is housed in the Old City Hall national landmark. The Museum's Atrium and Hearin-Chandler Auditorium are perfect for wedding receptions, parties, and celebrations! Our uniquely picturesque Courtyard is ideal for wedding ceremonies, and the Auditorium is available as a back-up ceremony space in case it rains on your big day.

We also host business meetings and corporate events. Leave the stuffy, drab meeting rooms behind! The stately Hearin-Chandler Auditorium is ideal for workshops, board meetings, or small conferences.

Photography Sessions

The History Museum of Mobile is a perfect historical backdrop for the engagement, bridal, family, and wedding photos of your dreams!

Due to the many events happening at the museum, walk-in photography is not permitted and sessions are required to be scheduled in advance. Contact the special events department to book a date and time for your session. 

A $30 photography fee should be paid at the museum reception desk on the day of your session. This fee includes the use of our private Bridal Suite, where models, brides, and photography clients can change outfits and store personal items. Because the museum is open to the public, all models and photography clients must be fully dressed and photo sessions must be styled appropriately. No hairspray, airbrush makeup, spray deodorant, or other aerosols are permitted inside the museum - hair and makeup must be done off-site prior to a photography session.

REMINDER: All photography sessions are required to be booked in advance. Walk-in sessions are prohibited.


Venue Tours | Walk-throughs

The History Museum of Mobile offers venue tours (prior to booking, for rental inquiries) and walk-throughs (after booking, for event planning purposes). Our special events staff will walk you through our available rental spaces and discuss layout options for your event. 

A venue tour is required prior to booking your date. Venue tours and walk-throughs are offered on weekdays only and must be scheduled in advance. Contact the special events department to schedule a venue tour. Please provide your preferred event date so we can check our calendar for availability and allow our team two business days to respond to inquiries.

Due to staff schedules and museum programming, we are not able to accommodate walk-in venue tours or planning walk-throughs. A member of the Events Staff must accompany venue tours and walk-throughs at all times to ensure that museum rental rules/policies are followed throughout the planning process. Self-guided tours of any kind for rental inquiries or planning purposes are prohibited.

We do not book private events during the Mardi Gras season due to limited parking and road closures.
