Underwater Excavation Workshop

The History Museum of Mobile, in partnership with the Exploreum Science Center, invites you to an exciting, hands-on adventure beneath the waves on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00 AM.
Perfect for explorers of all ages, this immersive workshop lets participants step into the role of underwater archaeologists. Excavating artifacts from a mock shipwreck, guests will discover:
- The fascinating field of underwater archaeology
- The anatomy of historic ships
- Highlights from the Mediterranean region featured in Sunken Treasures, Ancient Seas: Artifacts from the Deep
- The careful process of excavation and preservation of a Roman warship, a cargo vessel, and items recovered from the sea floor

The program will last approximately two hours and will take place in the museum classroom. Guests are encouraged to explore the museum and the Sunken Treasures, Ancient Seas exhibition before or after the workshop to complete their deep-sea journey.
